History
Journalist, social reformer, and independence warrior K. Nageswara Rao Pantulu founded Amrutanjan as a patent medicine company in Bombay in 1893. In 1914, the headquarters were moved to Madras, today Chennai. It is currently led by Sambhu Prasad, Nageshwara Rao’s grandson, as of 2014.
Amrutanjan became Amrutanjan Limited, a public limited company, in 1936. The balm gained popularity due to Kasinathuni Nageswara Rao’s free distribution during music festivals. The company, formerly known as Amrutanjan Limited, changed its name to Amrutanjan Healthcare Limited on November 13, 2007, and it has been going by that name ever since. Amrutanjan Healthcare debuted in the US market on July 4, 2002. Under the Comfy brand, the business introduced a period pain roll-on in 2022.
