History
In 1986, Mahindra & Mahindra and British Telecom formed a joint venture to provide technology outsourcing services. At first, British Telecom owned about 30% of Tech Mahindra. For Rs. 451 crores, British Telecom sold Mahindra & Mahindra 5.5 percent of its Tech Mahindra ownership in December 2010. For around Rs. 1,395 crores, British Telecom sold institutional investors 14.1 percent of the business in August 2012. British Telecom sold institutional investors its remaining 9.1% (11.6 million shares) of the company in December 2012 for gross cash proceeds of Rs. 1,011.4 crores. With this transaction, British Telecom left Tech Mahindra.
