History
Motherson began as a modest family-run business in 1975, when our current chairman, Vivek Chaand Sehgal, and his late mother, Shrimati Swaran Lata Sehgal, launched it. The company would go from trading silver to producing household electrical wiring in a few years. The Suzuki Maruti 800, the country’s first cheap automobile to be locally produced, ignited a genuine revolution in Indian transportation.
In 1994, Mercedes became the first premium vehicle brand to be sold in India. They launched a local assembly line in Pune two years later. They established a new plant to make their wiring harnesses in just 39 days.
The major success occurred in 2002, although they opened our first office abroad in Europe. They increased their global presence to 41 countries, broadening our line of products, establishing new alliances, and purchasing businesses that complement ours.
