History
It acquired the failing Towers and Transformers Ltd. in Delhi in 1983 and successfully brought it around within a year. Havells also acquired ECS, Standard Electricals, Duke Arnics Electronics, and Crabtree India between 1997 and 2001. Havells and the UK-based company Crabtree had a 50:50 joint venture, in which Havells eventually bought out Crabtree’s share. For roughly €200 million, Havells purchased the European lighting manufacturer Sylvania in 2007. Havells debuted the ceramic metal-halide lamp in 2010.
Products
The company produces home appliances, fans, LED lighting, water heaters, modular switches, wiring accessories, industrial and domestic circuit protection switchgear, industrial and domestic cables and wires, capacitors, induction motors, and other items.
Operations
The company employs over 6,000 people in over 50 countries through its 23 divisions or representative offices. Rajan Bansal, a businessman, purchases India’s first Lloyd’s exclusive store. The store is in Paschim Vihar, in the western region of New Delhi. Its eleven manufacturing facilities in India are spread across Haridwar, Noida, Baddi, Faridabad, Neemrana, Alwar, and Bengaluru as of 2016.
