The Dettol Story

You know, when someone brings up the topic of antiseptics, Dettol often pops up in the conversation. Funny enough, this evergreen brand isn’t as new as some of you might think. Want to take a wild guess? Well, Dettol has been around since 1932! Yup, you heard that right. As the years rolled by, Dettol went through its fair share of makeovers. At one point, some Dettol items even went by the kinda weird name ‘Dettox’. Bet you didn’t know that! Right?

Why Dettol Is So Famous In India?

Let’s take a trip back in time to 1933. It was a big year for Dettol. You see, back then, Dettol wasn’t just something you found in almost every home. Nope, it was specially made for doctors and nurses. They used it mainly to fight a really nasty thing called sepsis, especially after babies were born. And guess what? Because of how they used Dettol to clean their tools and stuff, the cases of this sepsis thing went down by half in just a little over two years. That’s huge! But hang on, Dettol wasn’t done yet. They thought, “Why just stop at hospitals? Germs are everywhere!” And they’re right, aren’t they? Germs are on our hands, in our houses, and even on our clothes. So, in 1979, Dettol decided to get creative. They started making different products, and now, you can find them in over 124 countries.
