MRF’s Journey from Small Beginnings

Back in 1946, a man named K. M. Mammen Mappillai had a simple dream in a place called Tiruvottiyur in Madras (which we now call Chennai). He started making toy balloons. Yep, you heard right, balloons! But you know, sometimes little beginnings lead to big adventures. By 1952, MRF wasn’t just about balloons anymore. They started making something called tread rubber. That was their first step into the world of tyres. And they became an official company in 1960. Not long after, they teamed up with a big tyre company in Ohio, USA called Mansfield Tire & Rubber. In just a year, MRF decided to share their company with the public. They even opened up a place in Beirut, Lebanon, to sell their products to more people around the world. And by 1967, MRF made history! They became the first company from India to sell tyres to the USA.

What MRF Offers

MRF has a wide variety of products, but they’re best known for their tyres. Whether you drive a car, ride a bike, or even fly an airplane, you might be using MRF tyres! But yeah, that’s not all! Apart from tyres, MRF also makes things like conveyor belts, paints, and yes, even toys. And if you’re curious about how well people drive in India, MRF is doing its part to help out. They’ve started programs like the MRF Pace Foundation and the MRF Driving School in Chennai to make sure everyone drives safely and properly.
